Halloween: Cheshire Cat

Here's another addition to my Halloween looks! This one is for those who want that creepy Cheshire Cat makeup who don't have access to the cat eye contact lenses!
As always, to give credit where credit is due, I got my inspiration from Promise Phan's cheshire cat video and coloration of gray and blue from this photo of the cheshire cat from Tim Burton's Alice and Wonderland.
Let's get started! First I put on some light foundation since the Cheshire cat has gray fur. Then I powdered with a white powder, again for more of that gray look.
Next I used a light shimmery blue shade (2nd from bottom right in the photo) from the BHCosmetics 120 palette 1st edition.  I used pointed triangle shapes to replicate the cat's stripes.

To start the mouth, start under the nose and draw out to do a big smile or "mustache" shape. I would try not to go too low below the mouth it will warp the shape of the teeth. I used a black gel liner and angled brush for this.
Next use a cream based white, I used an LA girl white cream pencil shadow stick similar to NYX milk. Fill in just where the teeth will go. This will be much easier than drawing the teeth with black first and trying to fill in with white.
Next outline the teeth and fill in the middle with the black. I like the teeth to be a bit more rounded like in the photo instead of sharp. Set with black and white shadows from the palette.
Next outline the eyes.  Use your eyebrows and the outline for the top of the eyes point the middle down.
Fill in the eyes with the white cream shadow. This really help the shadows pop later.  Afterwards outline the eyes with a bolder line.
Draw the edges of the irises and fill them in with a light blue, teal, and green shadow.  I used the three photographed.

Next do the cat slit pupils.  Definitely set this with black eyeshadow or else you will get creasing and smearing.
Do a cat eye on the outer edges.
Next do a heart shape on the lower part of your nose and connect the middle with a line. And you're done!
Add a wig if you'd like! FYI I absolutely hate this wig but thought it would serve justice with this look.
Add a tank top, tutu, and tail and you have quick DIY Cheshire cat costume without having to have the contacts!

Halloween Mermaid: Fresh Out of Water

Hi! This is my second look for my 2014 Halloween series!

I mainly used shadows from the BH Cosmetics 120 Color Palette, the original one, and just alternated between the darker purples and shimmery blue/teals from the top half
And the dark blues from the bottom half
OK! First I put in some circle lenses just to make my eyes look a little bigger and green.  I got mine from honeycolor.com they are the Angelic Eye Princess Green
Next foundation, then dawn your mask, fishnets. This will help create the scaly effect of fish

Use a cream base to help with the pigmentation of the shadows.  You could use some maybe line color tattoos, MAC paint pots, or just some of the cream colors that come in those cheap halloween makeup sets like I did!  I used the blue first and then the purple.  I went around my face where I normally contour and made a triangle shape down the middle of my head. After the cream bases, just go over that with the dark purple and dark blue eyeshadows from the 120 palette.  Try to put the darker shades around the edges and lighten as you go more towards the center.
Fill in your brows with the same two cream colors and set with the dark purple shadow.
Next I used Jessie's Girl eye dust in sunstone to highlight the face on my cheeks, chin, center of the head, and on the inner corners and first half of the lids. The shimmery purple shade next to the dark purple shade in the 120 palette on the outer half of the lid, the dark purple shadow in the crease and lower lid, Stila smudge stick: Tetra on the waterline, Maybeline gel liner winged liner topped with the dark purple shadow.
Last create an ombre lip by putting the shimmer purple eyeshadow in the center, the the dark purple shadow next to it, then the dark plus shadow on the corners. And add some lashes.
If you really want to have a complete look wet your hair and add a little oil to prolong the "wet look."  My hair is already curly so I didn't have to try too hard but if your is straight I suggest braiding it or loosely curling it and spraying with some sea salt spray to create beach curls.

Thanks so much for reading! Stay tuned!

Halloween Killer Clown!

In honor of my favorite holiday I plan on doing some looks over the next couple of weeks! This one was my costume a few years ago but definitely thought it deserved a mention!  Here was my inspiration from the look Killer Clown! I used typical cream based halloween makeup that you can get from any halloween store/section, plain white powder that I got from Hot Topic to set the face, and I used the "glue stick" technique on my eyebrows.  Tears are liquid fake blood and it turned out really well after it dried! Pour slowly while your face is more flat to prevent it from pouring all the way down your face =)

I hope you enjoyed! Stay tuned for more!

After seeing this trend I searched through my collection of lippies to see all of the different lipsticks that had that brown/mauve undertone that was really popular in the 90s.  There are mainly drugstore products here $10 and less but there are two here that are considered high end so I hope that this can help everyone out!
The top swatch photo is in natural light and the bottom is with flash.
