YSL Mascara: Volume Effect Faux Cils

I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
Just a little info first:
This retails for $32, which is around where most high end/luxury brand mascaras will land you. It comes in 6 shades, I reveived High Density Black (thank goodness, not sure I would be able to pull off colored mascara in my everyday life). According to the YSL website, it is the original mascara with an improved formula to help with lash care and to prevent it from drying out. We'll see about that last claim a few months from now =). It also has a scent. Here is a video by Influenster telling a little more about this mascara's re-release, ingredients, and claims.
I am slightly on the fence about this mascara. On the plus side I absolutely love the brush for it, It feels more like one of those old school styled brushes instead of those rubberized ones that I'm not particularly fond of.
I think it coats the lashes well without looking too clumpy. In the photos I'm wearing it on my right eye without curling my lashes compared to my left eye with no mascara on at all. So as you can see, it does make a difference. I don't think it gives my lashes that "faux lash effect" like it claims though, I have yet to run across a mascara that actually does that.

My main con about this mascara is the scent. I'm not saying that it smells bad, because it doesn't. I believe it said in the video that it has vanilla etc in it, it mostly smells like a "sexy" scented perfume to me and the scent does burn my eyes until the mascara dries =/ After it dries though it doesn't seem to bother me at all.

I have not had any issues with it smearing! It lasts all day, doesn't clump and reapplication turns out pretty well too without over clumping.  So overall I think it is a good buy. I could see why it has been around for 15 years. I have very short lashes and this gives me good lashes for an everyday look.

e.l.f. Disney: Jasmine Collection! A Whole New World Beauty Book

This is the third disney princess that e.l.f. has added to their disney princess collection.  I didn't get much at all from this one, just the beauty book. Aesthetically this beauty book is absolutely beautiful. I really think that e.l.f. did great with the colors. I really think the purple and turquoise compliment each other really well!
The book is set up similarly to the Snow White one with 3 large shadows and 4 small ones.  This one has a blush a blush and bronzer like in the Ariel beauty book as opposed to just a bronzer like in the Snow White beauty book.
It comes with a double ended sponge tip applicator like in the Snow White book. I'm pretty disappointed about that because the Ariel one was the only one so far that came with a brush.

Ok, onto the shadows. I am not impressed. Out of the 7 shadows, I only feel like 2 are worth using. For the most part the shadows are very powdery and "hard" in the pan. Its really hard to get much payoff on my finger and really difficult fro a brush.
The two shades that I think are really nice are 'Iago' and 'Jafar.' They are shimmers and apply really easily and evenly. The worst of the bunch are 'Abu' and 'Jasmine' =(.  I was really hoping 'Jasmine' would be an amazing light blue but it is really hard to swatch. It is like the both of these are very hardly packed into the pan. They aren't buttery at all and have a lot of fallout. 'Aladdin' and 'Raja' are pretty but have to be built up.  I'm torn on 'Genie.' It is a gorgeous blue/green teal type color but is patchy. It was slightly difficult to get it to apply evenly but once it was even I liked it.

The blush 'Royal Palace' looks like a peach toned highlight on my skin tone. I would not wear this as a blush, it would look very ashy. The bronzer 'Forbidden Treasure' would be a good all over bronzer to warm my skin tone, it would not work as a bronzer/contour type powder because it is almost my exact color. The blush is just a little chalky but not too terribly bad. It has slight gold shimmer which would make it a great highlight.  The bronzer is great, it is smooth and applies easily and blends well.
The eyeliner is AMAZING! This is the blackest pencil liner I have ever had! It isn't smudge proof, but doesn't claim to be. This will be the only thing I will use from this book. The lipgloss 'Magic Carpet' isn't bad. It does go on patchy. I tried to show it in the swatch. It isn't as bad as that horrible Snow White one by any means! It doesn't have a scent at all (thank goodness).

I can't wait for the next one! I hope they continue this and have one for every disney princess in the princess court, with and addition of Pocahontas because I think that would be beautiful.
